About Johnny's New York Pizza
John Keiley was born and raised
in Forest Hills, New York. After many years of owning
and operating a bar and grill, John decided to leave the
hustle and bustle of New York, for the quiet beauty of
Denver, Colorado. A true lover of New York style pizza,
John searched the Denver area for that great slice. His
search was unsuccessful. One day John and his wife were
driving into downtown to check out yet another pizzeria.
The top was down on the Jeep. All of a sudden the skies
opened up and the rain poured down. Lightning and
thunder cracked around them. John finally pulled into
the parking lot and looked at his wife soaked, water
dripping off her hair. They both said, “Let’s do this.”
John spent the next year in his kitchen working and
perfecting his recipes. He traveled back to New York to
absorb the smell, flavors and cooking style of the New
York Pizzerias. It took another year and Johnny’s New
York Pizza & Pasta was opened at Wadsworth & Mississippi
in Lakewood.
He named the restaurant after his first born son, John
Joseph, who arrived one week after the doors were
opened. From the moment John served his first slice,
Johnny’s has been a hit. People drive great distances to
eat his authentic food. Johnny’s in Lakewood has just
celebrated it’s three year anniversary and our second
store has opened in Wheat Ridge at the corner of Kipling
& 26th in the Gold’s Grocery Mall. Johnny’s will
continue to expand their locations to fulfill John’s
mission of bringing great pizza to the people of
Colorado.
